ABOUT

As a bit of an introduction I am a Medical Doctor and full time practicing Hospitalist and the Medical Informatics Director and Chair of the Medical Informatics at Straub Hospital and Clinic in beautiful Hawaii.  Straub Hospital and Clinic and was one of the first Hospitals to successfully attest to Meaningful Use criteria in the US.

My computer experience is very extensive and I started programing in 35 years ago in junior high school, back in the days of computer punch cards and before computers had monitors.  I have written for 5 nationally published computer magazines and have done research in computerize 3D molecular modeling, featured in the prestigious journal Science and featured in the classic Star trek movie Wrath of Kahn.  While in medical school I won the Deans prize for research at UCSF.  I completed a Medical Informatics fellowship at UCLA.  I was a Major and Flight Surgeon in the Air National Guard.  I and am board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care.  I have been intimately involved with the implementation of EPIC at Straub Hospital and Clinic, Wilcox Memorial Hospital & Kauai Medical Clinic, and Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children.
